Sierra and Meta unveil Personal Agent Protocol with Zapier as launch partner
sujingshen · x · 2026-10-16
Sierra and Meta introduced the Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard for how personal AI agents work with companies, with Zapier as a launch partner. Key design points:
- Every agent identifies who it's acting for, so companies know which customer is on the other end
- Customers decide the agent's permissions: look things up, or take action
- Companies choose where agents can operate: website, APIs, or their own agent
The author notes that a growing share of customers will reach businesses through agents and never open the website — companies that are easy for agents to work with will win those customers.
