Lumabook brings books to life with AI illustrations that follow you as you read
yahska111 · reddit · 2026-10-16
A developer built Lumabook, an experiment where you read normally while generative illustrations come alive alongside the text. The hard part was keeping AI coherent across an entire book: characters change faces, clothing drifts, environments lose continuity, and the model invents details contradicting the text.
Most of the engineering went into reducing this "AI slop" and building an engine that keeps illustrations reasonably consistent over long narratives. Tested on Sherlock Holmes, The Odyssey, The Jungle Book, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Ramayana.
