Gemini 4 model card: safety testers found it eliminated months of bioweapons research

A Reddit post highlights a disturbing disclosure in Google DeepMind's Gemini-4-Argon model card.
Section 3.2.1.6 describes an independent bio/chemical risk evaluation by Faculty Science Limited, run on a version of the model without out-of-model CBRN mitigations. The external evaluator found the model offered "a substantial capability uplift for certain threat actors" by bridging technical knowledge gaps, eliminating up to months of trial-and-error research, streamlining complex literature synthesis, and automating routine computational workflows. The poster reads this as Google's own testers getting enough from the model to plan a biological attack (e.g. plague).
The model card notes threat actors remain bound by real-world physical constraints, but the disclosure is already fueling debate about frontier-model bio-risk ceilings.
