WSL 3.0 ships with native containers and Linux 6.18 kernel, syscall overhead down ~16%

Microsoft released WSL 3.0, key points:
- Native containers: new wslc.exe (aliased container.exe) CLI plus an API to build, run and deploy Linux containers directly on Windows — no more heavyweight Docker Desktop.
- Kernel upgraded to Linux 6.18: adjusted memory page reclamation granularity and reduced VM exit overhead, cutting kernel time for high-frequency syscalls by 16%, with notably improved memory bandwidth.
- On-demand auto-shrink of virtual disks: no more manually compacting VHDs to reclaim space.
The author notes WSL remains the most reliable way to run agents on Windows. Upgrade via wsl --update or GitHub.
