Thousands Hit by ChatGPT Standard Voice Mode Regression: Wrong Voice, Interruptions
shaunralston · x · 2026-10-16
A user report tagged to @OpenAIDevs highlights a regression in ChatGPT's Standard Voice Mode on iOS, with thousands of users reportedly affected on the OpenAI Community Forum.
Key symptoms:
- The selected voice is silently replaced by a different one despite settings being unchanged
- Conversations repeatedly interrupted, with the system unexpectedly restarting listening
- German speech frequently misrecognized as unrelated languages including Turkish and Russian
- Issues persist across conversations and with headphones
The reporter stresses this is specific to Standard Voice Mode — not Live or Advanced Voice — and asks OpenAI to restore the original voice and fix the interruptions.
