A developer found that the charger and cable Apple ships with a MacBook Pro can't necessarily sustain the battery under heavy workloads. Live SMC + IOKit telemetry shows 132.3W input from the charger vs 156.7W total load (Mac plus peripherals), with the battery draining at -24.5W — no fancy programmatic battery overrides needed, just normal heavy jobs.
