Span-02 debuts: open-weight 'anytime reasoning' model that takes a deadline, not an effort level
HeyAmit_ · x · 2026-10-16
Respan AI launched Span-02, an open-weight decision-model taking an "anytime reasoning" approach: instead of picking an effort level, you give it a deadline and it always returns its best decision so far, improving the longer it thinks.
Key points:
- Answers with choices, scores and numbers plus confidence, cutting glue code between model output and app logic;
- Multimodal — sees images and screens;
- With reasoning off it beats Jev at 1/4 of the price, and runs at 1/3 the latency of comparable decision models;
- Fully open weights.
