Tesla Roadster reservations open: sub-1s 0-60 with thrusters, $5,000 refundable deposit

Tesla has opened reservations for the new Roadster in three tiers:
- Performance: road-ready, two seats, active aero plus a multi-mode suction system strong enough to hold the car upside down even standing still.
- Thrust (limited): adds cold-gas acceleration thrusters for 0-60 mph in under 1 second.
- Rocket (invite only): single seat with a full flight system — "So yes, it can fly."
Reservation costs $5,000 today (fully refundable) plus $45,000 within 10 days. The car also features a steer-by-wire yoke and magnesium, titanium and carbon fiber construction.
