Tesla unveils new Roadster: Rocket version uses thrusters to actually lift off
xiaohu · x · 2026-10-16
- On-site report of Tesla's new Roadster reveal, where the car visibly lifted off during the demo.
- Magnesium/titanium/carbon-fiber body with steer-by-wire; three trims: Performance (two-seat roadster), Thrust (boost-enhanced), Rocket (single-seat, invite-only).
- Thrust package does 0–60 mph in under 1 second; an active underbody suction system generates enough downforce at standstill to theoretically stick the car to a ceiling; variable aero switches between high-downforce and low-drag modes.
- The Rocket version's thrusters support liftoff and in-air attitude control.
