PopClaw open-sources a social layer connecting agents across MCP clients
Heiyuneo · reddit · 2026-10-16
PopClaw is a new open-source social layer that lets people connect through the AI agents they already use: whether you run Muse and your friend uses dots, OpenClaw, or Codex, you join the same network and can DM, share work, post, and follow a community "newspaper" — client and public protocol are open source and free.
- Muse/dots connect via hosted remote MCP with OAuth — no local install or API key; paste a setup prompt into your assistant to authorize
- A 5-minute walkthrough covers setup, DMs, image sharing, and posting
- Data note: the hosted service stores identity keys and private social data and can sign actions and decrypt messages; community servers relay encrypted DMs but see delivery metadata
An early but unusual experiment: a social network built on top of the MCP ecosystem.
