Pattern: an MCP tool that makes coding agents check design specs first, cutting repeat lookups from 43s to milliseconds
DonR954 · reddit · 2026-10-16
A developer released Pattern, an MCP tool that makes agents verify build options before coding. It turns UI design specs from your components folder or Figma file into a requirements checklist, then checks each candidate against actual code, props, and documentation — evaluating what a component can do, not just whether its name or screenshot looks right.
The agent gets a concrete build plan: reuse an existing component if it meets requirements, or build custom otherwise. Claimed benefits: less guessing, less repeated work (decisions cached per project; one repeat lookup dropped from 43 seconds to milliseconds), fewer wasted tokens and bloated code. Available at usepattern.sh with code on GitHub; the author is seeking feedback from real projects.
