Frateca: dev builds text-to-speech app with Gemini, turns any article into audio
OneMoreSuperUser · reddit · 2026-10-16
A developer shares Frateca, a mobile app built entirely with Gemini over several months: it converts webpages, Substack/Medium articles, PDFs, pasted text and even photos of text into natural-sounding audio you can listen to like a podcast or audiobook, with background playback. It is privacy-friendly, requesting no permissions by default.
The stack is React Native (Expo) + Node.js/React, and it's live on iOS, Android and the web.
