Codex CLI v0.163.0 adds mid-response steering, parallel read-only tools and /config search

OpenAI shipped Codex CLI rust-v0.163.0 with notable workflow upgrades:
- /config now searches preferences across categories, applies supported settings instantly, and flags which need a restart
- You can send follow-ups while Codex is responding to steer it immediately; interrupting a turn also stops active Code Mode cells and nested tool calls
- Leader key support in /keymap (default Ctrl+X); voice mute moved to F9
- Managed background servers restartable from /daemon, with warnings about interrupted work and auto-reconnect
- Independent read-only tools (skill, memory, conversation-history lookups) run in parallel
- Daybreak enabled by default for eligible accounts; codex exec can select it with an OpenAI API key
Bug fixes include restoring thread permissions on resume, proxy permission checks before DNS lookups, blocking credential-alias bypass of inspection hooks, Windows/WSL clipboard improvements, and a fix for repeated diff output in codex exec.
