Study: LLM crisis reports look complete but lack provenance and official figures
Sachin Kumar · hf · 2026-10-16
A paper by Sachin Kumar (LexisNexis) derives a 15-slot information schema from professional humanitarian situation reports and evaluates 121 human-authored vs 261 LLM-generated reports across five disasters and three hazards. LLM reports match humans on some metrics but fail to supply professional provenance and reproduce few official figures, while common automatic scores poorly reflect completeness — a fluent report can hit every expected topic while omitting the quantitative, provenance-bearing information operations depend on.
