Security researcher Tal Beery demonstrated that WhatsApp's local message database can be edited to permanently rewrite chat history: after killing and reopening the app, the altered messages persist for good.
The key implication: even the local DB cannot prove message authenticity, exposing a blind spot in chat forensics. He says he burned a possible BlackHat submission just to make the point publicly.
