Perplexity open-sources SPACE sandbox, partners with CoreWeave, Akamai, Crusoe

Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced the open-sourcing of SPACE, the company's secure sandbox, arguing that neoclouds can't just rent GPUs — they need to own the full agent inference platform: open-weight models (SGLang), fine-tuned models (Miles, River), and secure sandboxes (SPACE).
Perplexity has lined up partners including Akamai, CoreWeave, and Crusoe in a push to make the sandbox a building block for AI security across compute providers, signaling Perplexity's expansion into agent inference infrastructure.
