The Guardian reports OpenAI UK Ltd accounts show its 110 London employees received an average of £2.32M each in 2025 — more than double the prior year's £1.1M. Staff shared £87M in salaries and £168M in shares, with equity making up about 66% of the £255M total.
The same accounts show OpenAI UK's turnover more than tripled to £293M, yielding a £20.3M profit. That pay level is 58x the median UK full-time earnings, or roughly £1,000/hour in salary and equity. Top packages go to researchers building frontier models like Astra, amid a talent war where Meta reportedly offered multi-year deals worth hundreds of millions. OpenAI is reportedly targeting a $1.1T valuation in a future IPO.
