NASA's Perseverance rover hit 28.10 miles (45.22 km) of driving on Oct 11, breaking the off-world distance record Opportunity needed nearly 15 years to set — in just five and a half years.
Rocket Lab, quoting the announcement, notes its solar panels powered the cruise to Mars and its robotics hardware (formerly Motiv Space Systems) drives the Mastcam-Z camera mechanisms and the 7-foot robotic arm placing instruments with sub-millimeter precision.
