Google Quantum AI has demonstrated "magic state cultivation" on physical hardware for the first time, achieving a 40x error reduction on its Willow processor versus previous methods and a state-of-the-art 99.99% logical fidelity. Pichai called it a step toward useful error-corrected quantum computers; the result is published in Science.
