Ilya Sutskever questions Meta license clause taxing MaaS providers above $20M revenue
ilyasu · x · 2026-10-16
Ilya Sutskever shared a screenshot of Meta's new model license: any licensee whose aggregate gross revenue exceeds $20 million in 12 months must notify Meta and sign a separate written agreement before offering the model's outputs as Model as a Service via API. Internal use, non-MaaS commercial activity, and embedding the model in the licensee's own product are exempt. He asks how heavily Meta will "tax inference providers" running the open model.
