Alibaba's Qoder adopts Unified Harness Protocol, an open standard for agent backends
nevrekaraishwa2 · x · 2026-10-16
Alibaba's AI IDE Qoder has officially adopted the Unified Harness Protocol (UHP) and can now serve as an agent backend for products via the HarnessRouter API — no agent loop, sandbox, orchestration, or tracing to build.
UHP is an Apache 2.0 open standard providing a universal translation layer between agent harnesses (Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, etc.) and applications. Unlike model APIs that return completions, UHP exchanges complete jobs: a running agent plans, calls tools, edits files, and hands back results, with skills, tools, models, context, permissions, sessions, and files unified under one contract.
