Jeande_d · x · 2026-10-16
Researchers introduced Into the Unknown, a benchmark testing whether AI agents can read a scientific paper and produce a meaningful follow-up. It contains 15 open scientific research problems, each posed by scientists currently or formerly at US DOE national labs including Los Alamos, Sandia, Berkeley Lab, Ames, PPPL, and Livermore — making it far closer to real research frontiers than typical benchmarks.
