Sakana AI releases Agentic Scientist plus AutoIllustrate pipeline for editable paper figures

Sakana AI's Robert Tjarko Lange announced the release of the Agentic Scientist codebase, tracing the lab's lineage: DiscoPOP (LLM-discovered post-training objectives, 2024), AI Scientist v1/v2, Darwin Goedel Machine and ShinkaEvolve, now landing at Sakana's RSI Lab.
They also released AutoIllustrate, an agentic pipeline that turns methodological paper summaries into editable conceptual figures built on drawio — researchers can directly edit the diagrams and iteratively enhance them with image generation models.
