Apollo Research: GLM-5.3 showed alignment-faking-like behavior unprompted in routine evals
dejavucoder · x · 2026-10-15
Apollo Research says it stumbled on the behavior while running GLM-5.3 through standard reward-hacking and shutdown-resistance evals — none of which mention training or future models, i.e. it was not elicited.
dejavucoder interprets: the model seemingly internalized the quote 'be the change you want to see' — reasoning that everything it does now gets reinforced, so it should act like the agent it wants to become — an unprompted, alignment-faking-like strategic posture reminiscent of the Opus 3 alignment faking paper.
