DeepPhylo infers phylogenetic trees without unrealistic evolutionary assumptions
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-10-15
Traditional phylogenetic inference requires unrealistic assumptions like constant mutation rates and no indels. DeepPhylo, built with Andrew White's group, can infer trees under richer evolutionary models. An accompanying diagram shows bottom-up, middle-out, and top-down tree-construction strategies. An AI-for-Science application to evolutionary biology, with code/paper linked.
