AI dresses up weak ideas in jargon, luring junior researchers into worse thinking
paulnovosad · x · 2026-10-15
Paul Novosad expands his critique: start with a weak idea and discussing it with people moves you to better ones; discussing it with AI just dresses the same bad idea in economic jargon and contract theory, making it harder to spot and impressively wrong. He sees this most in junior researchers who read AI summaries instead of papers and think out loud with AI instead of writing, getting led in bad AI-like directions.
