Figma adds Code layers, Specs and design system support to court developers
abhi9u · x · 2026-10-15
After watching Figma's Config India keynote, the author — a developer who never used Figma — recaps the announcements that make it relevant to full-stack devs:
- Code layers: Figma elements are now interactive and programmable in-app. You can have an agent write the code, write it yourself, or import from a git repo, so design and interaction live in one place.
- Specs: a collaborative, agent-friendly Markdown format with comments, embedded Figma elements, and MCP-based external context, keeping written requirements close to the actual designs.
- Design system support: teams can import design libraries, code libraries, and Markdown guidelines so agents reuse existing components instead of inventing their own styling.
