Gary Marcus fires back at Timnit Gebru: one singularity summit in 2009, not 'many'
GaryMarcus · x · 2026-10-15
Gary Marcus publicly responded to Timnit Gebru's accusations, asking her to 'stop lying': he attended only one singularity summit, in 2009, 17 years ago, never went back, and says he isn't part of that world. On her eugenics claims he says he merely asked for evidence and definitions without calling her wrong, and was attacked for it. The spat stems from Gebru mocking Marcus's summit past and alleged flip-flopping.
