Skeleton-first prompting: Anthropic engineers show how to generate rigged Blender monsters in minutes
GCWebDesigner · x · 2026-10-15
Two Anthropic engineers shared a prompt system that produces rigged Blender monsters in minutes by designing the skeleton first instead of the creature. The workflow has three stages: FRAME (limb count, joint positions, weight distribution before any mesh), FLESH (muscle volumes grown onto the frame so silhouette follows structure), and WARP (strangeness added last as deformation — stretched limbs, collapsed joints, inverted spine curves).
Image-led generation looks impressive but breaks on rigging, with limbs bending in impossible places; skeleton-first flips that failure mode so creatures always move believably. A companion article also covers how models write Blender Python for the wrong Blender version, and how the worst defects are invisible in the render.
