Epoch AI's Epoch Capabilities Index puts Gemini 4 Argon at 165, tied with Fable 5.1 and just behind Opus 5.5 (167) and GPT-6 Astra (166) — Google's closest approach to the frontier since Gemini 3.1 Pro in February, and a big jump from Gemini 3.8 Flash's 157. Argon tops some knowledge, agentic, and image benchmarks but lags in math (8th on Math ECI) and software engineering (6th on SWE ECI).
