Robotics papers on arXiv have grown ~6x in five years, peaking at 676 in a single week
Rewkang · x · 2026-10-15
A chart shared by Rewkang shows weekly new robotics papers on arXiv (cs.RO, incl. cross-lists) climbing from 80-100/week in 2021 to a peak of 676 in a single week of October 2026, with submission-deadline spikes around ICRA and IROS on a steadily rising base.
He attributes the acceleration to cheaper and more accessible hardware, better tooling, waves of talent and capital, and stronger general-purpose models — signaling a research output boom in robotics.
