Anthropic slowdown could trigger a domino effect across the AI startup ecosystem
AccBalanced · x · 2026-10-15
Rohit Krishnan argues that if Anthropic's growth is slowing and it must refocus on profitability, it could set off a "cataclysmic sequence of dominoes" across the startup landscape. Lab liquidity currently drives most of the data market, the RL market, and much interim experimentation; existing investments may stay underwater for years — eventually useful like today's fiber, but painful. AccBalanced amplified it: "labs will be labs, business will always be business." Knock-on effects: GPUs get more expensive, intelligence prices rise, smaller models come into relief, and better routers become existential.
