Six-Person Team Ships HIPAA-Compliant AI Agent for Insurance Prior-Auth in Three Months
alex_verem · x · 2026-10-15
A PE operating partner hired a team to embed AI agents in a portfolio company's healthcare prior-authorization platform, submitting patient data to insurers under HIPAA. Legacy bots broke so often on insurer portals that staff reverted to manual submissions. Instead of rebuilding everything, the six-person team targeted only the most painful piece — portal automation — leaving case management, EHR links and fax on the old system. Three months later, a production extension runs those submissions inside coordinators' workflows: a template for agent adoption in high-compliance industries (narrow entry point, coexistence with legacy systems).
