Dev bills $20,000 for an app built with $200 of Claude Code

A developer shared a real monetization case: a kiosk-mode Android tablet app for taxis (ads, driver tipping, admin, backend) built entirely with Claude Code — no hand-written code, $200 in AI costs, paid $20,000 by the client and now live in production. It took one month of constant work; without AI it would have taken 3 months at 2-3x the cost.
Notable detail: the client first tried vibecoding it himself and the result was horrendous — what he paid for was professional design, real assurance, and 12 months of support, which vibe coding can't replace. Igor Carron adds that prototyping remains a core use case for vibe coding.
