Cerebras CEO: OpenAI went with Nvidia because Cerebras lacked capacity for GPT-6
firstadopter · x · 2026-10-15
Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman finally explained why OpenAI chose Nvidia for its next generation: Cerebras won and deployed GPT-5.6 Sol at 750-800 tokens per second, but when OpenAI wanted to go "vastly wider" for GPT-6 Ultrafast, Cerebras simply didn't have the capacity. He also downplayed the significance of Sam Altman and Greg Brockman's early angel investment, noting the pair made hundreds of small angel bets in that era. Commentator firstadopter argues this transparent response should have come much earlier and that the market will appreciate it.
