DeepSeek announced that its API service suffered a system failure between 8:11 and 13:04 Beijing time on October 15, 2026, leaving the API unavailable for nearly five hours.
The company says it has launched a comprehensive investigation, reviewed and eliminated single points of dependency to prevent recurrence. As compensation, all consumption from October 8–14 (7 days) will be fully refunded as account credits, which will be deposited automatically. The retweeting author confirms it was a genuine system failure, not a model deployment.
