Per Reuters, eight states—Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho, and Montana—have each filed suits against OpenAI in their own state courts, alleging ChatGPT is unsafe for children and that the company misled parents about it.
The suits claim both consumer protection violations and a public nuisance endangering residents' health, targeting the gap between OpenAI's stated youth-safety measures and actual protections.
