Only 1% of AI engineering job posts are junior, 6-month scraping study finds

AlGrigor scraped AI engineering job posts monthly since February across Berlin, Amsterdam, London, New York, LA, and India. The September snapshot (1,086 postings):
- Only 1% of titles say junior/entry-level; 50% state no level, and the rest are almost all senior+
- Integrator stack (RAG, agents, LLM APIs) rose 80% → 91%; trainer stack (PyTorch, fine-tuning, CUDA) fell 38% → 30%
- Agents: 50% → 60%; RAG: 33% → 45%; forward-deployed roles roughly doubled
Conclusion: "AI engineer" now mostly means someone who calls models through APIs and builds around them. The market is growing, but it's a hard entry point for starting a career.
