Unlocked CMP 170HX runs LTX 2.5: 1.9x slower than RTX 5090 but its 52.6GB VRAM avoids OOM

A Reddit user benchmarked LTX 2.5 video generation on an unlocked CMP 170HX (64GB HBM2e mining card) against an RTX 5090.
- At 1280×960 the 5090 is 1.9x faster: 10s clips take 102s vs 178s; 30s clips 305s vs 590s.
- The big gap is at high resolution: a 30s 1920×1440 render OOMs on the 32GB 5090, while the 170HX completes it in 34 minutes using 52.6GB of VRAM.
- The cards previously overheated under sustained load regardless of repasting or added 80mm fans; a Bykski water block finally stabilized them at 47°C under load.
- The author may sell the 5090 over RMA-denial concerns and regrets not buying more unlocked cards on eBay.
