Microsoft's MAI-Image-2.6 and 2.6-Flash image models land on Vercel AI Gateway

Vercel has added Microsoft's MAI-Image-2.6 and the faster, cheaper MAI-Image-2.6-Flash to its AI Gateway as of October 13, letting developers use one API key with no separate provider account.
- Both models support photorealistic generation, text rendering, and targeted edits to products, portraits, and layouts
- Up to 5 reference images can guide edits or combine subjects; outputs up to 1536×1536
- Accessible via the AI SDK's generateImage, an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or the AI CLI (microsoft/mai-image-2.6 / microsoft/mai-image-2.6-flash)
- Pick 2.6 for final assets, 2.6-Flash for rapid iteration and variations
