Tencent's WorkBuddy enters WeCom contacts as an AI coworker, wired to 83 custom APIs via MCP

Tencent has integrated WorkBuddy (v5.8.0) into WeCom (Enterprise WeChat): the agent now appears as a smart robot inside the WeCom contact list, available to verified enterprises on WeCom 5.0.12 with a limited free trial.
What it does
- With enterprise authorization it can access messages, docs, meetings, and cloud drive, generating meeting notes, smart spreadsheets, follow-up reminders, and group chats.
- Robots can be wired into internal systems (API/CRM/tickets/ERP), with admin-configurable per-user permissions.
Author's hands-on build (AGIBar bar)
- Wrapped his self-built bar systems (10+ categories, 83 APIs) into an MCP gateway on a server; after entering the gateway address and key in WeCom, the robot auto-fetched 136 tools, of which 11 were used.
- Use cases: auto-replacing and restyling the venue QR code, querying last weekend's drink sales, checking upcoming events.
- The entire configuration was done by Claude Code/Codex with no manual work.
The post also catalogs dozens of deployable scenarios: daily ops reports, auto-reordering stock, expense tracking, cross-team scheduling, and ticket escalation.
