Most Software Has No Access Layer Between the Agent and the App — That's the Problem
usehive · reddit · 2026-10-15
After weeks of watching agents work, the author argues most software is two-layered — app logic below, agent on top — so agents resort to reading human pixels and clicking human buttons, with every permission decision invisible. The fix: a three-layer stack with an access layer in the middle that scopes reads to the field level, gates writes behind named humans, and logs each step's permission decision. Translation layers, permissions, structured access, and job descriptions for agents all belong in this middle layer.
