Drone Footage Reveals Tesla's Optimus Factory at Giga Texas, 40% Steel Assembled
Scobleizer · x · 2026-10-15
Drone photographer Joe Tegtmeyer released unprecedented night footage of the Optimus factory inside Giga Texas.
Key progress:
- Steel assembly is roughly 40% complete; the main steel structure may finish by end of Q1 2027—only about a year after ground breaking
- Ground floor still has open trenches and an unfinished deep "plus" foundation pit, with utility work ongoing
- Upper three floors show substantial concrete pours, with some roof sections done ahead of waterproofing
Robert Scoble noted no other US robotics company is building at this scale, and praised Tegtmeyer's rare relationships with factory workers that allow constant aerial access.
