Analyst asks: how many mechanics does a 500MW-to-GW data center need for manifold coolers

Analyst Ben Bajarin raises an often-overlooked ops question after visiting a data center cooling expo: how many on-site mechanics will a 500MW-to-GW-scale data center need to service its manifold coolers? The attached photo shows Rittal's in-row CDU unit, scalable up to a 13.5MW POD with N+1 redundancy at CDU level, hot-swappable control modules, sensors and filters, and nominal cooling capacity up to 1.5MW at 4K ATD with 2,000 lpm flow. The post highlights the maintenance labor challenge as liquid cooling scales to gigawatt facilities.
