Andriy Burkov, author of The Hundred-Page Machine Learning Book, announced that the PDF-to-Markdown converter used internally by ChapterPal to ingest scientific papers and books is now available as a standalone tool.
Output details:
- Premium OCR returns high-quality validated markdown files, one per chapter, plus images of all illustrations
- All math converted to LaTeX; tables become \begin{tabular} unless they contain graphics, in which case they're extracted as images
- Algorithms extracted as images; code blocks become language blocks
- All captions semantically linked to their objects
He invites users to try it and report anything that breaks.
