aidenybai · x · 2026-10-15
AI researcher Aiden Bai mused that performance engineering used to filter for interesting people—grokking flamegraphs and encyclopedic knowledge of underlying systems—but is now commoditized: anyone with enough tokens can improve speed given a benchmark. He added he's not mad since the change is clearly good, just a bit sad about the practical death of the kind of work he used to do.
