Claude Code desktop users upset over removal of hover context-usage indicator
phatstackzdevops · reddit · 2026-10-15
A Reddit user complains that Anthropic removed the hover-over-context-donut shortcut for checking context usage in the Claude Code desktop app, moving it to a sidebar that must be constantly opened and closed — especially frustrating on vertical monitors, split-screen, and narrow windows. The author notes GitHub complaints overwhelmingly ask for easy context-usage access, questions why the hover couldn't stay with the sidebar as an extra option, and calls it "a reduction in functionality disguised as improvement" made without feedback from paying users.
