LangChain Details 5 Context Engineering Techniques in Deep Agents to Fight Context Rot
LangChain · x · 2026-10-15
LangChain's new blog post breaks down "context rot": as long-running agents accumulate instructions, tool outputs, and drafts, model accuracy and reasoning degrade. The company's open-source Deep Agents harness attacks this with middleware that applies five techniques in two categories — keeping unnecessary info out of the context window, and managing/filtering what's already there — moving context out of the active window without deleting it. Notably, agent memory is stored as plain files in user-controlled storage, so agents can switch models or providers without losing what they've learned.
