Next-Concept Modeling: new paradigm generates text up to 31x faster than diffusion LMs

Hazy Research introduces Next-Concept Modeling (NCM), a fast, parallel, coarse-to-fine text generation paradigm. Compared to diffusion LMs of similar size, NCM is up to 31x faster on summarization and MT, 10–21x faster on unconditional generation with 3–5x fewer training tokens, and beats AR and diffusion baselines on reasoning tasks like Sudoku with fewer sampling steps.
