dmrobots co-founder DominiqueCAPaul writes that two years after arriving in San Francisco knowing nobody, he now has a strong network there — and wants to replicate that in China, which he calls probably the most important country for connections given what dmrobots is building.
He's spending the next two weeks in the Greater Bay Area, starting in Hong Kong, and will share daily impressions:
- Day 1: landed at 7 AM after a 12-hour flight from Zürich; spent the day settling in and planning
- Impressed by Hong Kong's skyline and hills, calling it far beyond NYC
- Surprise fact: Greater China has 1.3M foreign residents, a third of them in Hong Kong
His last China experience was a 2014 student exchange in Shanghai; the plan is simply to show up and get going.
